Fellow REALbasic Developers!!
Tonight, we released Bosco's Screen Share 2.0, a cross-platform
screen sharing utility made with REALbasic and Component X Graphics.
It's a peer to peer app for Mac OS X and Windows that lets two people
interactively share screens. Unlike some other screen sharing
solutions, it is not client-server, so regardless of who initiates
the connection, both users can take turns watching or driving each
other screen.
So apart from being a typical MwRb announcement, why is this
important to the NUG? Well, for starters, Bosco's Screen Share is now
available free of charge, with no registration requirement. And most
of us who have software out in the wild have to support our paying
customers. For your customers that have iChat, a microphone, and
broadband Internet (384K upstream or better), I can think of no
better way of providing interactive support than Bosco's Screen Share
and iChat. Here's how it works:
1. Download and install Bosco's Screen Share on your computer. Make
sure you have a static IP address for best results, and configure
your router so that your computer can accept calls on Bosco's Screen
Share's listen port.
2. When a customer needs support, instruct them to download and
install Bosco's Screen Share from our website. Give them your IP
address, which they can "dial" very simply from Bosco's Screen Share.
Give them your iChat account so they can find you there.
3. Have an audio chat and a screen sharing session going during your
support call. You can watch and/or drive each others' screens as needed.
Anyway, it's free now! Our paying customers over the past year have
really loved the product. It has been strong especially among
creative people who work at home and have to show stuff to clients
far away. It's also being used by a few prestigious design firms. But
we felt it would be a more valuable product to us if everyone could
use it. The "advertising" model, very tastefully done...

We also offer fee-based configuration support for those who want to
accept calls and need a little help setting up their routers. And we
provide training for people who want to get the most out of the
product for their particular uses.
BTW, Bosco's Screen Share 2.0 was built with REALbasic 2005r4 -- you
CAN use it for commercial grade software. Don't let anyone tell you
different ;-).
Enjoy!!
