correct, and I would guess, although can't be sure, that complying with security settings is probably a requirement of the PDF standard. It's like anything, if someone's determined to 'crack' it they will, but for the average joe the inbuilt settings present a reasonable offering


So if you take this document and print it to PDF, will the new PDF obey these settings? If not, then you just quickly converted it into an unsecured PDF.. perhaps I'm missing something.

Well, on Tiger it won't allow you to print to PDF even with printing allowed - can't say for other OS's
