REALbasic has used Unicode strings since RB 4.5. I doubt that's the
problem; the problem probably that is the system he's running on
isn't Unicode savvy. I don't know an easy fix for this -- but
probably converting to Encodings.SystemDefault would do it (er, if
that even exists in 4.5 -- I no longer recall when we introduced the
Encodings object).
