In my {short} experience with REAL, I found the IDE to be acceptable, a really pleasant, well thought out environment. OK this List Subject was provocative, but I wanted to change this thread rambling on about how SLOW RB is. I read through it last night and it took quite some time from the first of the thread.

Perhaps if RS had a bigger team they would be able to put a dedicated person onto optimization and refinements.

MAKE IT FASTER AND MULTI-USER
I personally would not mind paying more money for a PRO Developer version, say up to US$999. The PRO version would be optimized and built to compile large multi-user projects. 6 months later this 'optimized' version would be released as a general and developer version, as more optimization and PRO features continue the next round. This would NOT be a Beta release plan but rather a way to kick start or fast track some sorely needed enhancements. $99 and $399 per user won't get us there I think. Even with a slow VB conversion...

I'm new to REAL, having moved over from another IDE. It is always painful learning a new language and environment. IMHO they have done an AMAZING job to build REAL in REAL. Just give RS time. Or money to speed things up.

Let's say 1,000 people were willing to pay $600 more for the PRO version, that would translate into real dollars back to REAL. Maybe that is unrealistic; maybe I'm talking out of my ass. Sure $999 is a lot more but I know I'd pay for a PRO version. Anyone else?

On a small user base (active users) like REAL money doesn't flow in magically, so I'd suggest those willing to pay to help build the team perhaps should?

Just a suggestion. Standard Edition. Developer Edition. Developer Pro Edition.

Cheers
