True, but that's not something a well-behaved Mac app should do anyway
I am on your side in this whole type/extension problem. But that is
common problem that you get files from the Internet or from a CD/DVD
which only have extensions. Most of the files I get only have
extensions.
And what should you do if you are writing a html, php or xml editor?
You should only display files in an OpenDialog which you can really
open. Though you have to exclude c, c++, python, ruby, gedcom etc etc
files. They may all have a type TEXT or may not.
So in all these cases the programmer must find a solution which is/
was not designed that way in the classic mac system.
Hopefully your bug report will be handled as Björn's (that means more
or less never). Or you should give us an new solution to our problems.
