I didn't think about that. I was mislead a bit by the error
message, which didn't state that the typecast expected an integer
and got a double; it stated that a class was expected for the
typecast.  For the sake of others who might run into this at some
time, could the error message be made more informative?

Yeah, it does sound like an unhelpful error message. It's probably
the same error message we used since before the typecasting operator
was extended to support enumerations. Mind filing a bug report about it?

Consider it done!

BTW, I'd like to continue the discussion we've been having on Aaron's site about symbols in the frameworks. I'll email you.
