I thought you guys might have found it. I hadn't known about the canvas property "erasebackground". Unfortunately on a quick check, with two versions of drawing to the canvas (either the backdrop or the g) setting this to false doesn't help. flicker may even be worse.

Does anyone have simple project with a photo-like picture on a canvas project that doesn't flicker?
