I'm very happy to report that, for me, all is well.

It's also an interesting lesson in distributed learning. While I've been on-and-off programming for a few years, I was continually making a fundamental mistake in how I drew images on a canvas. I suspect in a classroom-type setting, or with a real advisor or teacher, this would have been caught early.

On the other hand, having posed my question this morning I got wonderful feedback from numerous highly-skilled programmers. Although my mistake was hard to recognize at a distance, eventually the mistake was fixed. Perhaps as significantly, several important insights were added.

Thanks all.
