I think one of the biggest issues with flash is that they like to
take their sweet time with updating their linux releases. I also
don't know how viable it is to expect to be able to just compile to
a flash version of your app. It would be a huge project, and I'd
much rather see development efforts to fix little bugs that have
been around for a while and improving existing mechanisms. If you
want to do apps in Flash, I'd suggest looking at OpenLaszlo. It's
XML based, so if you really wanted to you could likely code your
own form designer for it. For that matter, look into Flash itself.
I don't know what limitations you're referring to, as regards a
tutoring tool, but I'd be willing to wager that you'll find a way
to do it inside pure Flash if you really dig into it.
With all that said, if you want a web app, make a web app. They're
a different beast, in my opinion, than a desktop or even "standard"
network app. Explore lightweight and flexible concepts like PHP,
CSS, and so on. Flash is nice for movies, in this way, and for
little games, but I wouldn't say it's ideal for applications.

REALbasic is far from the best way to develop an application for
*any* of its target platforms. But it is the best -- because pretty
much the only -- way to develop for *all* of them.
Adding Flash to the compiler targets would not alter that statement
in any way. And I would probably develop the UI for a flash app to be
rather different from a desktop application. But if I could still
share much of the code between the two, I would be *way* ahead of the
game.
OpenLaszlo is very, very nice. And if I ever get a chance, I might
work on some technologies to help integrate it with REALbasic
applications. But I can't reuse *anything*.
I think it would be a compelling offering for many businesses to be
able to come in and say you'll write them an application that runs on
any of their desktops and you'll also give them a web version, too.
And another thing: a Flash target would let you write applications
for a lot of handhelds and other devices. I have a Nokia N800 (Linux
handheld web terminal). I would *love* to be able to run my REALbasic
applications on it.
