I'd guess either the MacCreator of your file is trmx (the same as  
Terminal) or the extension of your file is registered for the  
Terminal (don't know if the latter exists, though).

But it's rather hard to figure out since you didn't provided an  
example of such file.

You also didn't mention if the problem is reproducible on Mac OS X  
"standard" (I'm thinking of a byte-reverse order or something like  
that).
