This post is somewhat on-topic in that in came up while trying to
figure out why none of my "beep" code was working in RB. It turns out
that none of my alert sounds are playing on my Intel iMac running
10.4.9. I believe this just started happening in the last day or two,
and I've not been able to figure out why or how to turn alert sounds
on. I can play music via iTunes and the sound works fine in iMovie.
But none of the settings I've tried in the Sounds system preferences
pane have brought back my alert sounds, and it's getting to be a bit
frustrating. If it makes any difference, I output sound to a pair of
external speakers plus subwoofer, but it doesn't make any difference
if the speakers are plugged in or not. Anybody have any suggestions
for me?
