I have a situation where I pop up a Help window if the user hasn't
performed a certain operation within a specified time. The help
window is initiated via a timer.
On a Mac if the user happens to be accessing a menu when the timer
fires then the Help window doesn't come up until the user is finished
with the menu. This is the action I want.
However on Windows the Help window can come up while the user is
checking what is under the menu headings. This causes a freeze.
Neither the menu or the Help Window seem to have the focus. The
displayed menu items remain on the screen even when the mouse button
is no longer down. The help window is a Floating Window.
Has anybody experienced similar behaviour?
Can anybody explain why Windows XP behaviour is different from the
Mac AND anything I can do to prevent or work around the Win XP
behaviour?
I am using RB2007r3 and building on a Mac.
Thanks
Karl
