Actually, Mars later clarified that bindings are *scheduled* to be  
deprecated in R5. Here's his post from the forum:

I'm sorry about all this confusion. We had planned to drop the  
bindings feature in 2007r5, since it has been stagnant and basically  
unsupported for years. The binding bug came up late in the 2007r4  
development process and we decided that it did not make sense to  
invest a lot of dev time updating a feature we were about to remove.

We've fixed the delete bug for 2007r5, so you will at least be able  
to remove old bindings.

We have made some internal changes to the way we handle the  
deprecation process and I expect to do a better job communicating  
about these changes in the future.
