Welcome, Dietmar, from another 4D refugee.
I looked at a few of the books and even got the "Beginning REALbasic:
From Novice to Professional". Frankly, I did not find it very useful. I
did, however, buy all the back issues and a new subscription to
RealBasic Developer magazine, and found them quite useful.
But the best thing for me was just to dive in, open up the Language
Reference and start converting one of my old 4D projects to RB. As
problems and questions would arise, I would search the LR, the list
archives, and/or well as the RealBasic forum archives. 9 times out of
10, I found an answer, resolution, or workaround fairly quickly.
While I still have a long way to go, I'm pretty well along and have
learned to like RB quite a bit, its minor quirks and flaws
notwithstanding. Most important of all, I am firmly convinced I will
never start another project in 4D again and use RB for all my future
cross-platform development.
I know there are at least a few other former 4D users here. And I've
never heard of anyone switching from RB to 4D. They only come in this
direction. So, rest assured you've made the right decision. <g>
