Since no one else has answered, I would guess that using a socket would be the best way to go. Check into EasyUDPSocket. I can't offer specifics, but I bet you can find exactly what you're looking for in the NUG archive. I think Mutex might work best when making sure that two instances of an application are not running on the same machine.
