Hi all,
I had taken on a project in July to write a handbook and cross-platform
program for transcribing movie files. However during the course of the
project I found that MoviePlayer is so badly broken on Windows it isn¹t
funny anymore.
Just to name a few:
MoviePlayer position moves/tiles when new movie is loaded

VERIFIED SINCE 2005 (!)
MoviePlayer1 control ignores .SelStart and .SelLength properties

VERIFIED SINCE 2005 (!)
MoviePlayer.position returns always zero on Windows when using WMP

and just this morning I found
movieplayer.position on windows can be set to only 1 sec accuracy

I've now reached a point where I might have to repay the advance and tell
them I can't do it.
I appreciate that RS probably had a lot of work to do with Vista & Leopard,
but this is basic functionality. What¹s the use of namespaces etc if simple
things like this don¹t work?
And looking over the R5 release notes I see lots of cosmetic fixes but the
big bugs just don¹t get tackled - and haven't since 2005!
I had renewed my RB Pro licence in September but have now returned it for a
refund REALbasic is simply unusable for me as I need cross-platform
capability that works. And REALbasic doesn't.
I have no intention of abandoning REALbasic - on my Mac and for my Mac it
works nicely. But unless they actually deliver basic cross-platform
capabilities again I won't renew.
Best Regards
Markus
