I used to say that too :-(

In swift succession, I had
1) .rbbas files get forgotten by a project in VC form.

2) Classes descending from BevelButtons screwed up

3) Objects on windows of third-party type, using encrypted classes,  
lose their class details.

I don't feel as safe anymore.
