I had exactly the same problem with my Apple mouse after a few
weeks of use. It would scroll in one direction but not the other. So
I phoned Apple to complain and was told to turn the mouse upside
down and roll the ball in all directions on a piece of absorbent paper
I couldn’t believe this would work but it did. The problem recurs
from time to time so I just repeat the trick. It never fails.
