Hi Jason,

Sometimes RS say things work, just to make us shut up, unfortunately.

Ruslan posted a hack, a while back.

I have NO idea why it works on MacOS9 magically, but on OSX it doesn't. In fact, I'm surprised that debugging external apps works at all in OS9, but I'm not complaining ;o)

I suppose, if you froze RB inbetween it compiling the .debug app, and launching it, you could use Ruslan's hack.

How to freeze RB though? Its possible using some utilities or command line tools. It's not very friendly, though!

James Milne mentioned XCode, but he also said he can't debug the external app as a plugin...

I think RS should tell us their secret. Do they have a special "freeze RB" feature they aren't telling us about?

Welcome to the fun. Well a few have posted steps to do this, but I still have not managed to reproduce it. In either CW or XCode. RS says CW 8.3 works fine for them, as do a few others, but on three machines, it doesn't do any more than you report in your post. The discussions keep dying so either no one is developing plugins in OS X or the process has become a trade secret that no one wants to discuss or share. If you search the last month or so (of this list) you should find the reported steps to try for XCode, possibly a reiteration of CW debugging as well. Most reference CW 8.3 and I have not heard anything concrete reported with 9.3 (which I would buy in a heartbeat if I knew it made it all work like it used to under OS 9). Good luck, hopefully you'll get
farther than I have...
