Sorry, but it does not work perfectly.
If I pass an UTF16 REALstring, I can get folderitems with invalid path
inside which are useless. I convert  it to UTF8 now and the folderitem
works.

The bad folderitems show themself that RB attaches a "\" to the path and
it seems not to add a "\" but some 3 byte / 1 character thing which is
not printable.
