VARIANT and BSTR with REALstring

I am hitting, apparently, a wall when it comes to translating a REALstring
into a windows VARIANT. Of course there are apis that do a conversion. In my
case I need to convert a BSTR to a VARIANT, but am at loss when it comes to
the creation of a BSTR from a REALstring.

The information on the web is limited, msdn provides cryptic info and I
thought therefore to ask here too. Perhaps not the right place, but who
knows.
