Why is there still no support for usage of REALnewInstance on custom classes
in the RB2005 IDE? We have been expressing concerns many times, specifically
when b6 was out. It was said that b7 would have it, it did not make it, now
we have b8, and still we are dealing with a crash in REALnewInstance.

I was told to not worry, but now I am. I am aware that your IDE might crash
when a custom class is inappropriately implemented. However, it crashes
already when using REALnewInstance right in this plugin api. One would
expect a nil pointer or an instance.

In previous postings I made arguments why it is important to have
REALnewInstance to work in the IDE. In addition, it is a necessity to
provide customers a variety of controls when they feel that RB lacks
functionality. Given that RB is supposed to be a serious alternative to VB 6
developers, we as plugin developers ought to provide as many components and
a variety of controls. This is good for RB and RS and perhaps for us.

Given that many plugin controls, including control plugins under contract,
fail to work in the RB2005 IDE, but not in RB5.5.5 IDE, it surely should
give RB2005 a negative impact on the market (it does for me, while I can
imagine that others would favor RS over plugin developers and would argue
the opposite).

You know, I am telling customers to design in the RB 5.5.5 IDE, save the
project, open it in RB2005, but do not open the window containing the
control. The RB2005 runtime works fine with the controls, no big deal.
