We will not attempt to "fix" it when we break it.

Waaahhh! You are sooooo mean!

 ;)

But seriously, why not make this hack an official solution?

Because we aren't ready to make a decision about what the sanctioned path will be. When we do, that feedback report will be closed and marked as Implemented in (Insert some version). ;)

Seriously though, it's simply because we can foresee some things changing in the coming years that will break this hack, at least in some form or another. The support costs for fixing it could be much larger than if we were to expose the functionality in the SDK through some other mechanism. I'm being intentionally vague, so you'll just have to trust us on our analysis :)

However, we haven't made any decisions about the way to expose the functionality, nor when to do it, so if you're interested in it, please do sign onto the report that Thomas pointed out earlier. Also, it would be helpful for you to note what specific features from the SDK you are looking for, so that we can better understand what is desired.

What speaks
against it as long as you agree that there should be SOME way to use the
Plugin API functions thru Declares?

I didn't agree to that. I agreed that there's functionality that should be exposed. :)
