In this respect I do ask for what self in a ContainerControl means.

Ok, self points to the ContainerControl, self.window is of course what I was looking for at runtime. Further, using some unsupported features of RB, self (i.e.,the ContainerControl) is known to RB's sliders, suggesting that indeed the plugin SDK requires an update so that a third party control can get to the ContainerControl.

The above also explains why such a silly question "self is pointing to the window", was asked in the first place.
