Not sure they'll be much help, but all my plugins listed here:
<http://developer.chaoticbox.com/> come with Xcode projects and build
into a directory structure that is later converted to an RBX. IIRC,
the Mouse Overlord plugin has the most up to date Xcode project, the
others may still be based on the old template with superfluous glue
code.

Hm, even after removing all temporary files in the temp folder
referenced in the crash log and pointed out by Frank RB2006 still
crashes on startup. It seems to be only affected by my own plugins
though, all other plugins seem to work fine. Does anybody have an
example for a mach-O xTools plugin or the folder structure with res
files in it to built an rbx file with the plugin converter? Somehow
I've the feeling that's where things are going wrong. (Not clear
though why it would work in RB2005r4...)

Not sure what it means by "No suitable image found" and "File too
short". Does Realbasic cache plugins somewhere and it is somehow
still accessing that cache?
Yes, this appears to be a caching problem which can be remedied by
deleting the files in "~/Library/Application Support/REALbasic
2005/Precompiled Plugins" and restarting the IDE. This has been
fixed Rb 2006 as far as I can tell, though I don't recall seeing a
release note to that affect.
