As I stated above, the format we're suggesting works in all versions. There are no cons I can tell, except for a separate build phase for the PPC only plugin vs. the universal plugin (because the PPC plugin part needs to be compatible with r3 and prior).

Frank was pointing out that there is a crash on quit on 10.2, or more specifically exceptions crash on 10.2 when building universal. It has nothing to do with plugin formats.
