MICROSOFT OFFICE:MAC 2004 INCLUDES REALBASIC DEMO ON THE CD

REALbasic Increases Office User Productivity, Automates Office Applications

AUSTIN, Texas (May 18, 2004) -- REAL Software, Inc. announced today that a
demo version of REALbasic 5.5 is included on the new Microsoft® Office:Mac
2004 CD.

³Anyone familiar with VBA programming for Microsoft Office can benefit from
using REALbasic,² states Sean Arney, of Rules Software, who uses REALbasic
in addition to VBA and C++ to create Office automation software.

³The central theme of my projects is to gather and display data or organize
and distribute complex sets of documents, all by automating functions in
Microsoft Office,² adds Arney. ³REALbasic eliminates the complexity
associated with distributing my applications. I don¹t have to worry about
the versioning of dependent files or adding system-level components to make
sure things work right. REALbasic makes the whole process easier.²

REALbasic is a powerful, easy-to-use development tool that enables users of
all levels to create custom applications. As such, REALbasic can easily
incorporate data from a database or from web services and display it in
Office. Also, using REALbasic produces standalone applications that launch
Office products as needed. So REALbasic users can share their REALbasic
skills along with their Office automation applications with others on
Windows and Macintosh.

³REALbasic provides the broadest set of capabilities for automating
Microsoft Office 2004 for the Mac,² said Geoff Perlman, president and CEO of
REAL Software. ³Automating repetitive functions saves time and automating
complex tasks eliminates errors. As a result, using REALbasic can make
Microsoft Office power users more productive overall.²

REAL Software also announced today that the company is shipping an update,
REALbasic version 5.5.2. Microsoft Office users can get this latest version
from the REAL Software website, at www.realsoftware.com/demo
<http://www.realsoftware.com/demo> . A complete list of the additions and
changes to REALbasic 5.5.2 can be found in the release notes included with
the product download.

REALbasic is a full-featured software design environment, easily suited to
creating all kinds of applications, from utilities to enterprise-class
applications. A demo version of REALbasic 5.5 is available on the Microsoft
Office:Mac 2004 CD, and can be accessed through the custom install option.
