REAL Software Introduces Resources to Help Visual Basic Developers
Convert their Software to Linux and Mac OS X

New White Paper Explains How to Port Visual Basic Applications
Cross-platform and Use REAL Software¹s VB Converter Utility

AUSTIN, Texas (July 21, 2004) REAL Software, Inc., announced today the
availability of resources that help Visual Basic developers migrate their
applications to Linux and Macintosh. The resources include a new white
paper, ³Porting Visual Basic Applications Cross-Platform to Linux and Mac OS
X, A Guide for Visual Basic Developers² and a conversion utility, called VB
Project Converter, that performs the mechanics of moving Visual Basic
projects to REALbasic.

"Visual Basic and REALbasic are very similar, so Visual Basic users quickly
become familiar with REALbasic," said Geoff Perlman, president and CEO of
REAL Software. "Once familiar, these developers get a big payoff, because we
provide both the information and tools they need to extend their
capabilities and their software products, cross-platform."

The white paper was written by Hank Marquis, a well-known Visual Basic
expert and author. Mr. Marquis¹ credits include "A Visual Basic Programmer's
Toolkit (APress)," "The Visual Basic 6.0 Bible (IDG)² and over 35 articles
published in Visual Basic technology trade publications. Mr. Marquis has
been using Visual Basic since version 1.0. He is currently CTO of SlayFire
Software Co., provider of software optimization and performance tools.

Once in REALbasic*, the projects can be compiled for a variety of target
platforms, including Linux, Mac OS X and Mac Classic and all 32-bit versions
of Windows, including Windows 98/ME/NT/2000 and XP.

³Visual Basic developers are in transition right now and many are
considering new tools, new development environments, new platforms,² stated
Marquis. ³Adding REALbasic to their skill-set and porting to REALbasic gives
them full Windows support, no huge runtime, minimal system requirements, and
portability to Windows, Mac and Linux.²

The white paper, additional information that compares REALbasic and Visual
Basic and all the software required for porting Visual Basic applications
cross-platform is available at the REAL Software website,
