Update to a popular Usenet pictures download tool
EMMELOORD, Netherlands (August 29, 2004) -- Brainchild, creator of
personal and business software since 1988, releases Picture Patrol Officer
1.2.1, an important update to the specialized Usenet pictures downloader for
Mac OS X, Mac OS 9 and Windows. Picture Patrol Officer is made with
REALbasic from REAL Software, Inc.
Thousands of pictures can be downloaded for free from the Usenet, a
worldwide network of servers where you can get almost anything you like.
Normally it takes time to find and save the treasures from this 'forgotten
half of the Internet', but using Picture Patrol Officer, your Mac OS or
Windows computer performs this task automatically without requiring much of
your input. It gets those adult, animal, aviation, or other free images
while saving you a lot of precious time.
Version 1.2.1 adds some important features:
- the program no longer crashes when it encounters corrupt images
- the program will no longer save corrupt JPEG pictures to disk, so you get
a smaller but more usable picture collection
- the program's ability to filter out dangerous attachments, like .scr and
.pif files, has been improved
