REAL Software Brings Home DEMOgod Award from DEMO at 15! Conference
AUSTIN, Texas (February 21, 2005) -- REAL Software announced today that the
company was honored as a DEMOgod at the DEMO at 15! conference last week in
Scottsdale, Arizona. DEMOgods are selected for their ability to clearly
articulate the significance of their debuting technologies despite the
pressures of a jaded audience and a glowing red six-minute count-down clock.
REAL Software president and CEO Geoff Perlman was presented the award for
REALbasic 2005, a cross-platform application development environment. For
their demo, REAL Software created a web services client from scratch on
Windows, then ran it on Linux and Mac OS X, all in less than three minutes.
The otherwise quiet DEMO audience responded with an approving round of
applause.
Geoff Perlman summarized REAL Software's value proposition at the end of the
demonstration, "simply put, REALbasic is cross-platform that really works."
Keith Shaw of Network World Magazine¹s DEMOblog called it "an impressive
demo [that] showed the audience how they can program a simple Web
application in Windows and then run the application on a Linux and Macintosh
environment. This really seems to fulfill the promise of 'write once, deploy
everywhere' that has been promised in the past."
After the presentation, Mr. Perlman acknowledged, "a lot of people
collaborated to make our demo so effective. In addition to all of the REAL
Software engineers who worked hard to get the product as far as it is, I owe
a big 'thanks' to Dave Wooldridge at Electric Butterfly, who provided us
with his outstanding Amazon Web Services Library, an essential part of our
demo. Anyone interested in web services should check out the full line of
web services components offered by Electric Butterfly."
Previous DEMOgods include Intuit CEO Scott Cook, Palm inventor Jeff Hawkins
and Dan Bricklin, inventor of the world¹s first spreadsheet. The full list
