SOFT SOLUTIONS UNVEILS 4-SIGHT FAX VERSION 6, WHICH DELIVERS SIGNIFICANT
PERFORMANCE GAINS, IMPROVED RELIABILITY AND STREAMLINED FUNCTIONALITY TO
DRAMATICALLY SIMPLIFY FAXING TASKS
ATLANTA, Georgia (March 31, 2005) -- Soft Solutions announces the immediate
release of 4-Sight FAX Version 6, the most significant and anticipated
release to date for the industry¹s first Macintosh OS X fax server. Building
upon a decade of market presence, 4-Sight FAX has been revamped in
REALbasic, providing dramatic performance gains and improved reliability for
this cross-platform enterprise faxing solution.
Soft Solutions transformed its former Java-based client software into an
inherently more scalable and reliable product. With a reduced code base just
one-quarter the size of Version 5.1, the Version 6 release delivers
significant performance improvements: It launches five-times faster and
queues fax broadcasts from ten-times faster (for 1,000-plus broadcasts) to
one-hundred-times faster (for large 5,000-plus broadcasts) than before.
Documents can now be attached to faxes and viewed from faxes in half the
time compared to the Version 5.x client.
³REALbasic provides a significantly faster and improved development
environment for us. We are now able to respond to new feature requests and
problem resolution in a fraction of the time that it took under Java,² says
Tim Haratine, president of Soft Solutions Inc., in Atlanta.
Along with speedier performance, the Version 6 client showcases improved
rendering and nearly instantaneous printing of faxes from a simplified and
more customizable user interface. The former QuickFax program has been
integrated directly into the Version 6 client, so users can drag and drop
multiple document attachments into the 4-Sight FAX Composer faster and
easier than before. The new 4-Notify program automatically informs users of
new fax arrivals even when the 4-Sight FAX client isn¹t running, and a
convenient automated update feature provides a one-click download and
install process for software updates.
"Once installed and configured, it just works,² said Sean Evans, Tier 2
Support Manager of Sneakers Software, the New York City-based makers of
DVMax veterinarian software and 4-Sight FAX customer.
Soft Solutions leveraged the expertise of industry veteran Cortis Clark,
member of the original REALbasic programming team and author of the
well-known Crossword Forge application, in the Version 6 move to REALbasic.
³We took two-and-a-half man-years to develop the last version of our 4-Sight
FAX product. With REALbasic, we rewrote the project in less than six
man-months,² added Haratine.
Expanded client and server capabilities significantly streamline the faxing
process across the enterprise. Support for the Apple Address Book gives
users the ability to integrate contact information from three distinct
sources: their local 4-Sight FAX address book, Apple Address Book, and the
server¹s centralized and newly expanded address book, which now handles up
to 20 fields of data. A detailed messaging system has been added to track
and report on all pertinent fax statistics, including fax status, date and
time sent, the sender and their fax number. Additions such as Caller ID
capabilities and Block List fax filtering, as well as outgoing fax-line
control and a type-ahead fax locator, further speed up and simplify the
workflow and accounting of companywide faxing.
³The software is a very polished, professional fax solution for Mac OS X,
and the level of development and support is exceptional. In summary, it
blows the competition away,² said Andy Edmondson, MIS Director of Audio
Stream, makers of high-end audio equipment in Ontario, Canada, and a current
4-Sight FAX customer.
4-Sight FAX Version 6 is now available for shipping. The cross-platform
client runs on Macintosh OS X, Macintosh OS 9 and Windows, and the fax
server runs on Mac OS X and Mac OS 9. Version 6 will support the upcoming
Macintosh Tiger (OS X 10.4) within 30 days of its public release, however
Version 5.1 will not be supported on the Tiger OS. The Version 6 release
ships in English and French, and the German release is expected in April
2005. A Japanese version is also currently in development. Soft Solutions is
slated to provide Apple internal modem and Xserve compatibility by summer of
2005.

Current customers with new licenses purchased from January 25, 2005 to date
and those under the Annual Updates and Support Plan will receive the Version
6 registration codes at no additional charge. Customers eligible to receive
the Version 6 upgrade should contact Soft Solutions for the permanent serial
and license codes when ready to complete the upgrade.
Prospective customers will receive an e-mail containing demo license codes
for testing 4-Sight FAX Version 6. A valid e-mail address must be submitted
