REAL Software Ships REALbasic 2005 Release 4; Update Improves
Reliability, Adds Support for Security Enhanced Linux
Austin, Texas, USA (October 12, 2005) -- REAL Software, providers of
REALbasic, cross-platform that really works, announced today that
REALbasic 2005 Release 4 is available now for Windows, Macintosh and
Linux. All feature updates and improvements to this latest version of
REALbasic are the result of customer requests.
"REAL Software is wholly committed to ensuring the best customer
experience that we can provide," stated Geoff Perlman, president and
CEO of REAL Software. "As such, we are constantly improving the
capabilities, usability and functionality of REALbasic to address
ongoing customer feedback."
Among the improvements, REALbasic 2005 Release 4 offers:
• REALbasic 2005 Release 4 supports Security Enhanced Linux
(SELinux), an extension to the Linux kernel developed by the National
Security Agency (NSA). REALbasic 2005 Release 4 runs on and builds
applications for SELinux distributions. The SELinux support in
REALbasic 2005 Release 4 has been tested at a major U.S. defense
contractor and is currently in use in high security environments.
• Improved support for External Items. The REALbasic IDE better
locates external items which have been moved and ensures that
external items get saved as they are updated.
• Numerous Code Editor improvements. Focus is better maintained
within (various) editors as the user switches from one editor tab to
the next. In addition, undo, code highlighting, IDE redraw and find
and replace behaviors have been improved in response to user feedback.
• Debugger improvements. It is now possible to set and clear
breakpoints directly from within the debugger tab. In addition, new
remote debugger stubs are available which offer an improved interface
and much faster transfer times.
