[ANN] AUSTIN, Texas, USA (January 2, 2007) — REAL Software, provider
of REALbasic, cross-platform that really works, announced that
REALbasic 2007 Release 1 is shipping today. In addition to improved
reliability for building Universal Binary applications, REALbasic
2007 Release 1 improves support for MySQL, PostreSQL and ODBC
compliant databases, such as Microsoft SQL Server. This release also
improves support for QuickTime and making network connections via
proxy servers.
Recent improvements to database support include:
REAL SQL Server: Connect to REAL SQL Server with Universal Binary
applications.
MySQL: Supports the authentication method introduced with MySQL 5.
PostgreSQL: Supports BLOBS (binary large objects) and Postgre's
notification system.
ODBC:
Supports reading and writing binary data (such as JPEG images) to
databases.
Provides methods for accessing complete schema and database-specific
capabilities
Supports building applications for Linux
"Creating Universal Binary applications is extremely important to
REALbasic users. Additionally, an increasing number of our users are

REALbasic 2007 Release 1 also includes the following new features:
New Quicktime Functionality: Allows developers to have increased
control when creating and saving editable movies
Support for HTTPS Proxies: Adds additional security and increased
flexibility for networks that require the use of a proxy, allowing
for server side operations to accept incoming connections with SSL.
