Create cross-platform applications faster in REAL Studio than in C++.
REAL Studio (formerly REALbasic) is a powerful, versatile development tool that enables C++ developers to create cross-platform software.
REAL Studio saves you time by providing visual GUI development, a cross-platform framework and a high-level language so you can create software many times faster than with C++. And what about all your C++ code and skills? Bring them along with the REAL Studio plug-in SDK. It's the best of both worlds!
It's not just for prototyping
C++ developers often start out using REAL Studio just to create a prototype. They quickly discover it's faster to complete the application development in REAL Studio.
"While I am fluent in C and C++ development, I use REAL Studio whenever possible due to its ease of use. REAL Studio allows me to crank out applications in half the time it takes in C++."
- Peter Burring, C/C++ and REAL Studio developer
As a C++ programmer, I would never have guessed that I'd prefer REAL Studio, but it's true. The combination of RAD and cross-platform operation really makes a difference and it saves so much development time. You can get a project done twice as fast as with C++!"

Save time. Save money. Sleep better at night.
When was the last time someone called you with a project and said, "No rush. Take all the time you need." If you are like most developers, you are always looking for ways to write code faster. With visual GUI development and a high-level language that handles the messy details like memory management for you, there's no faster way to develop software than with REAL Studio. And with REAL Studio's cross-platform API, you won't be spending your time trying to keep up with the thousands of OS APIs on each platform. In his best-selling book Rapid Development, Steve McConnell calls the use of a Rapid Development Language a "best practice," saying that "you can probably expect to cut construction effort by 75 percent."* Imagine finishing a project in 1/4 the time it takes in C++. We're not joking here. We have users that significantly outperform their C++ counterparts in their organization because they can develop so much faster with REAL Studio. Instead of calling you a programmer, they will be calling you a miracle worker.

No, it's not BASIC
Don't let the word "basic" fool you. REALbasic is a modern, object-oriented language. If you are a C++ developer, you are going to feel right at home. Familiar concepts such as polymorphism, object references and exception handling are suppoted with clean, modern syntax. REALbasic allows only single inheritance (though multiple times like Java) and avoids the confusion that can result when a base class appears multiple times in the ancestry of a derived class. In addition, REAL Studio compiles to machine code just like C++ providing you with both speed and security. So why do we call the language "REALbasic"? Well, it does share a few commands with BASIC as well as Visual Basic, but it was designed as an OOP language from the beginning. We call it REALbasic mostly because it shares the philosophy of BASIC, a powerful and easy to use programming language that lets you focus on what makes your software unique.
Write Once, Deploy Thrice
This has been promised by others, but no one delivers true cross-platform software development like we do. You can develop on Mac, Windows and Linux for Mac, Windows and Linux. Unlike many other cross-platform technologies that emulate the user interface, REAL Studio uses the native controls for each platform. That means your software will look, feel and behave correctly on each platform you support. And while others use virtual machines or interpreters to provide cross-platform support, REAL Studio compiles to native X86 and PowerPC machine code for native performance. Finally, REAL Studio's cross-platform API abstracts you from the details of the platforms so the cost of supporting additional platforms is negligible. REAL Studio is a development tool that delivers on the cross-platform promise.
